Here is an article now 20 years old. It features our lab’s senior (though benevolent) alpha male, Dr. Paul Paquet. Its remarkable history of where Paul comes from, scientifically and philosophically. Its also the project on which I (CTD) met Paul and received my first mentorship. Finally the piece gives some clues as to why Paul now dedicates so much of his time to our work on the coast, where conservation opportunities are still plenty.
