I am a MSc student in the Applied Conservation Science Lab at the University of Victoria. My thesis project partners with the Kwiakah First Nation to empirically model winter habitat for Roosevelt Elk in their territory. In the summer of 2025 we deployed a network of 40 remote cameras across a variety of forests, which will be retrieved next spring. This project aims to use non-invasive technologies, such as remote cameras and remote sensing, for habitat suitability modelling.
I graduated from the University of Victoria with a BSc in Geography and Earth and Ocean Science in 2022. Some of my early career experiences include swimming with Chinook Salmon in the Atnarko River for Fisheries and Oceans Canada and climbing whitebark pines in the Rockies.
My relationship with the lab started in the summer of 2023 as a technician on the Heiltsuk Camera project, and I have been lucky to be in and out of the lab as a Research Assistant and Field Technician ever since. I am grateful to all my friends and colleagues from and with whom I have the privilege of learning.
Our project is funded in part by MITACS, the Raincoast Conservation Fellowship program, and the University of Victoria Department of Geography.
